Saratoga and Boston landed in the win column today and continue on their championship hunt tomorrow

Two out of four New England Men's clubs came out with victories in today's USA Rugby Men's Club Round of 16 play-offs. Saratoga had an early start with a 9am kick-off but the NERFU D3 Champs were not going to be caught sleeping and got the first win of the day for NERFU by beating Philadelphia-Whitemarsh 28-19. They will facing Hilton Head (SC) tomorrow. A win will have them headed to Glendale, CO in two weeks time for the final round of D3 play-offs.
Boston and Worcester were up next with the 11am slots at play-offs. NERFU DII Champs Worcester were facing Rocky Gorge (MD) in it's match-up. The team from Maryland proved too much for Worcester to handle as Rocky Gorge kept the men from Wormtown out of the try zone and came away with a 34-3 victory.
On the next field over the #1 D1 seed from NERFU, Boston, was taking on Palmer a club from Iowa. The first half of the game proved to be a battle and the score was tied 3-3 headed towards the half. Boston got the match under control in the second half and scored almost twice as many points as Palmer. The 29-15 victory has them taking on Life (GA) in the D1 quarter-finals tomorrow. A win would also have them headed to Glendale at the beginning of June for a USA Rugby Championship Semi-Final.
Last up for the day at 3pm were the NERFU D1 #2 seed Middlesex. Unlike Boston, Middlesex had cruised to an easy victory in the first round of play-offs in April, dispatching Norfolk (VA) 42-20. In the Round of 16 they were matched-up against Minnesota club Metropolis. Metropolis had a first round bye in April as the South did not have a D1 #4 seed. The lack of play-off experience in 2013 didn't hinder Metropolis as they put 26 points on the board before Middlesex fired back. Middlesex got three converted tries on the day but they never were able to slow down Metropolis who came away with the 45-21 victory.

All four NERFU clubs will be back in action tomorrow. Saratoga and Boston with their quarter-final matches and Middlesex and Worcester with their seeding matches. We wish all four clubs good luck tomorrow- all of us here in New England will be rooting for you.
