Help Support Alberto

October 13, 2013

Rugby, while played world-wide, is an incredibly tight-knit community… and when a rugby player and their family are in need, our community really comes together.
We received word from a former NERFU member, James Cunningham (past Providence Men's RFC Captain), that a teammate from his current club in Gainsville, FL suffered a stroke at training this past Tuesday and is in need assistance from the rugby community. Below is a short description of the situation with a link where donations can be made via PayPal:

"Our friend and teammate, Alberto Cigarini, suffered a stroke at our training on Tuesday, October 8. Alberto is at UF on exchange from Italy to do research in engineering. He plays semi-professional rugby in Italy, and this story has been covered extensively by the Italian newspapers. He is an excellent rugby player, and in the short time he has been with our team has had an impact on our club not only due his rugby presence, but also because of his charisma and positive attitude off the pitch. His family has come from Italy to be with him in this difficult time. We would like to take donations for them to offset their travel costs and uncovered medical expenses."
