Dan Breen loved to play rugby.
Friends and teammates of the 23-year old Scituate resident, who recently played for the South Shore Anchors Rugby Football Club (RFC), said he was dedicated to the sport, competitive about winning, but always knew how to have fun.
“Dan was a great kid to have on the team and was fun to coach,” said South Shore Anchors RFC Head Coach Matt Pomella.  “His lighthearted spirit was contagious and his teammates loved him for it.”
Early Friday morning (Oct. 11), Breen was killed after his vehicle struck a utility pole and a tree on Winter Street in Norwell.
Norwell police said Breen lost control of his vehicle at approximately 1:46 a.m., causing the vehicle to come to a rest upside down.  Breen, the only passenger, was ejected from the vehicle.
