The Northeast Olympic Development Academy (ODA), in conjunction with USA Rugby, will be holding an Open Combine for all players aged 18 and above on Sunday, May 17 at the Columbia University facility at Baker Field in New York, check-in 8 am.
This one-day âcombineâ will provide opportunities for emerging-elite club athletes to be tested in national team physical and technical protocols, and earn selection for the Northeast ODA. The athletes will be required to follow an annual S&C (strength and conditioning) and technical program, additional skill trainings to their club sessions and monthly monitoring through their club and ODA coaches.
Players must be pre-registered and the combine will include both standardized athletic testing and live scrimmages under the scrutiny of the coaching staff from the Northeast Academy and other guest coaches.
The mission of the Northeast ODA, is to identify, develop and prepare regional rugby players to challenge for places in the USA Menâs National 7âs squad and the USA Olympic team for the Rio games in 2016. The Northeast ODA will compete in various elite tournaments in August, 2015 such as the Serevi Sevens in Glendale, the World Club Sevens in Limerick, Ireland, as well as NYC, and Tobago before finishing the competitive cycle with the 2016 Las Vegas Invitational.
