Beantown (Women’s Division 1), Mystic River (Men’s Division 1) and Burlington (Women’s Division 2) will all make the trip to Charlotte NC for the Eastern Regional Quarterfinals on May 30th.
Mystic River went undefeated in their regular Atlantic North season to secure their berth, while Beantown and Burlington both defeated fellow NERFU clubs in the Atlantic North Regional playoffs this past weekend to advance.
Beantown overcame an early 12 point deficit against Boston to win the Women’s D1 championship, 19-12. Burlington’s path to the D2 Women’s Championship required a semi-final overtime victory over Portland on Saturday, followed by a 49-5 victory over Charles River in the finals on Sunday.
Mystic River closed out their D1 campaign on Saturday with a comprehensive 48-5 win over White Plains on their home field.
In the other two Atlantic North Championships, New York did enough early to withstand a late Mystic River surge to win the Men’s Division 2 Championship, 44-29. While In the Division 3 Men’s Championship, MIT was unable to complete a comeback against Danbury after going scoreless in the first. The final score was 33-12.
All five Atlantic North champions will face their counterparts from the Midwest in this next round of the Eastern Regional Playoffs.
